OREGON!

For our Kidd Family Reunion we went to the Oregon Coast and the Redwoods. It was a really fun trip (minus the drive of death where me and Skyler and Kirsten were stuck in the back of our very uncomfortable truck).
Luckily we didn't drive through the whole thing nonstop, and stayed in a hotel in Pendleton which is about 4 hours away from Salem where my uncle lives. This gave us some extra time to kill so we stopped at the Bonneville Dam on the way.
(Kirst and Sky in front of the dam)
The dam is home to Herman the Sturgeon. He's like 70 years old and was pretty huge.
This may sound dorky but I thought it was really cool to see all of the big fish :)
That day we also went to the "big city" of Portland, just for the heck of it. We definitely had the whole tourist thing down, taking pictures of everything we saw that looked cool (buildings, trees, strange looking people) and even getting lost and having to slow down like every two seconds to look at every sign we passed to try to figure out where we were. Luckily we found our way and made it to Salem safe and sound where we hooked up with the rest of the family.
The first day with the whole fam damily we went to the beach and just played around the whole time. There was a huge sand dune off to the side of the beach that most of us climbed. The hike sucked but the view from the top was definitely worth it.
The next day we went to tide pools that were right outside of our sweet hotel. I think the tide pools were probably my favorite part of the trip. It was fun to look in all of the pools of water and see what you'd find. There were literally thousands of starfish and anemones on the exposed rocks. It was beautiful :) The only thing that would've made it better would be if it was actually warm outside.
(by the way, it's really fun to poke sea anemones. I was really entertained)
That day we went crabbing too. We didn't have the boats for very long so I didn't really get to go as long as I would've liked but what I did do was really fun. That night we ate the crabs that we caught. I'm not a big fan of seafood but I still ate the crab, mostly cause it's fun to crack them open and eat them.
We also went to the Redwoods that week. If you haven't been to the Redwoods, go. I can't describe how huge they were, you just have to experience it for yourself.

I miss Oregon right now and want to go back! Especially now that I'm working in the hot sun again.
